Eye-Controlled Phone Unveiled By DoCoMo
“Special electrodes, attached to a set of earphones, are able to pick up the movement of the eye. Eyes have “electrical potential” - positive at the cornea and negative at the retina - and this electrical potential changes depending on the movement of the eyeball. The system works even when a person’s eyes are closed.”
Navigating with these kind of gestures seems a bit scary to me. I don’t think this is a good use case for this technology. But being able to detect if people are actually looking at a gadget might be a very interesting additional information. For example if you want to know if you’ve got the attention of your counterpart. Might therefore be a god mix with face detection and voice recognition.
