“People born after 1980 tend to have a distinctive style of handwriting: a little bit sloppy, a little bit childish and almost never in cursive. The knee-jerk explanation is that computers are responsible for our increasingly illegible scrawl, but Steve Graham, a special-education and literacy professor at Vanderbilt University, says that’s not the case. The simple fact is that kids haven’t learned to write neatly because no one has forced them to. ‘Writing is just not part of the national agenda anymore,’ he says.”
Finally, I’ve got an excuse for my horrible style of handwriting…

jqtouch:
As some of the devoted followers may have seen yesterday, I’ve gone ahead and refactored the jQTouch animations — I’ve reduced the overall code, made it extensible, and added in 5 new animations.
Looks awesome! Thinking about using this for a future version of Local Buzz. But I guess the Android browser doesn’t support 3D animations yet. Does he?

“
We’ve got a hit on our hands We’ve got the smartphone equivalent of the Beatles. It’s not like that album was the first rock album ever. It’s not like nobody ever made a band with some guitars and drums before. But it was radical. It was new. They took old forms and made them new. Same with us. We didn’t invent the smartphone or the PDA or the music player or the Web browser. We just made them better. We made them new. We changed the fucking world…
But then something happened. Guys like you took over the phone company and all you cared about was milking profit and paying off assholes in Congress to fuck over anyone who came along with a better idea, because even though it might be great for consumers it would mean you and your lazy pals would have to get off your asses and start working again in order to keep up.
And not just you. Look at Big Three automakers. Same deal. Lazy, fat, slow, stupid, from the top to the bottom — everyone focused on just getting what they can in the short run and who cares what kind of piece of shit product we’re putting out.

“This is why there’s a stench of panic hanging over silicon valley. this is why Apple have turned into paranoid security Nazis, why HP have just ditched Microsoft from a forthcoming major platform and splurged a billion-plus on buying up a near-failure; it’s why everyone is terrified of Google: The PC revolution is almost coming to an end, and everyone’s trying to work out a strategy for surviving the aftermath.”
