I always enjoy watching this guy. And I guess he’s right. As I’m reading the biography of Steve Wozniak at the moment where you can find similar patterns I’m thinking about this issue a lot.
“I’ve come to the conclusion that working hard, while never a bad thing, is not really the magic thing that leads to great inventions or successful outcomes. Much more important than working hard is knowing how to find the right thing to work on. Paying attention to what is going on in the world. Seeing patterns. Seeing things as they are rather than how you want them to be.”
“The problem with constantly trying to increase volume is that it doesn’t always produce the best results. Doing a huge number of things doesn’t mean you’re getting anthing meaningful done.”
Meet LocalBuzz - A lab project I was able to hack during my lab time @ intuity. It was fun playing with the twitter API and the new HTML5 geolocation feature. You can get more details about it on our blog.
“Learn to be in the moment, focusing on one task at a time, and immersing yourself completely in that task. If you aren’t passionate about a certain task, allow yourself to move on to something you’re more passionate about. The more passionate you are about a task or a project, thr more energy you’ll put into it, and the better you’ll do with it.”
“Interruption is a dangerous idea. The idea that most offices are set up for interruption… So primarily we’re text based. We think that helps everyone focus on really what they wanna say. Cause when you’re on the phone or so you just keep talkin and talkin. But typing is hard. Typing takes time. It encourages people to be brief.”
“Teamarbeit hat durchaus ihre Berechtigung. Aber sie ist nicht unbedingt der Schlüssel zu mehr Kreatitvität… Um kreativ zu sein, braucht man Zeit, um zu denken. Und zwar ganz für sich.”
